As the war in Ukraine is about to enter its third autumn and winter, there is no sign of Russia ending its constant barrage of missiles aimed at both military and civilian targets. Ukrainian missile defences are more important now than ever to counteract this endless bombardment. Unfortunately, as the summer draws to an end, these defences will be under attack, not only from Russian missiles, but also from the elements as the autumn and winter weather takes hold. Rain and snow will soon start falling, making mud structures slippery and unsound, and decreasing the safety and operational effectiveness of these positions.

That’s why the Plant and Hire Aid Alliance has responded to the call from Ukraine, by supplying vital astroturf to shore up these vital defences. Astroturf is essential to make missile defences more robust and better able to withstand the Eastern European autumn and winter. Recently, we loaded a forty-foot truck with 23tonnes of astroturf that has been generously funded by our members, both through direct donation and cash payments. We are pleased to report that the astroturf has now been delivered to the front line to provide a huge boost to these vital defensive positions.

Speaking of the coming winter, the Plant and Hire Aid Alliance will be once again sending Christmas gifts to the embattled children of Ukraine. Our gift drive has been a huge success in the past two years, with 30,000 Christmas gifts wrapped and dispatched in time for the festive season. This year, we are hugely grateful to already have 15,000 Christmas gifts ready to dispatch, but we need more. If you can donate any gifts for the children of Ukraine, or fund the purchase of gifts through a cash donation, then please get in touch today.

Every single gift is guaranteed to go straight to a Ukrainian child who is facing their third Christmas under siege. Our amazing team will wrap each one, to make it feel extra special, and our convoy will set out to deliver the gifts in mid-December. The war in Ukraine is no longer the headline news that it once was, but the suffering and the need are as striking and sobering as ever. The Alliance is grateful to all its members, who continue to work hard to support the people of Ukraine as the war drags on deep into its third year. Our work is far from done, but you can rest assured that together we are making a genuine difference.

Thank you so much.
